t-online Article: Warning Against Visa Scams in Bali
23 October 2025
In the t-online article on deceptive visa agencies trapping foreigners on Bali, I provided expert insight on the legal risks and misconceptions surrounding the use of intermediaries for Indonesian visas. I emphasized that the Indonesian government does not require visa agents for applications, and that residence permits and work visas can now be obtained officially and directly online or at immigration offices, eliminating reliance on potentially unreliable middlemen. My contribution aimed to help affected Germans and other foreigners understand the legal alternatives and avoid falling into exploitative schemes.

RTL Explosiv Interview
25 April 2024
In a televised segment aired by RTL, Advokat Desca was invited to share his legal expertise on the case of Laura Weyel, a German model and former GNTM contestant, who faced criminal charges in Bali following a dispute with her landlord. The case drew national attention in Germany and raised questions about the legal protections and risks faced by foreigners in Indonesia.
Advokat Desca explained the relevant provisions of Indonesian criminal law, including the potential prison sentence for bodily harm, and emphasized the importance of legal awareness, proper documentation, and early legal intervention in landlord-tenant conflicts. He also highlighted the limitations of consular assistance in such matters and offered practical guidance for expatriates navigating legal systems abroad.
